Work with me
I take on freelance work in the same territory this site covers: financial crime, anti-money laundering, and what AI is doing to both. The archive is where I work those questions out in public.
Writing for compliance and regtech companies
Articles, explainers, guides and long-form pieces on financial crime, AML and AI. Most compliance content is produced by people who understand marketing and not the subject. The hard part is knowing what is actually true, what a regulator has actually done, and which of the obvious framings is wrong.
Per piece or retained.
Research briefs
A written brief on a specific typology, regulation or control gap, worked up from the primary sources rather than from secondary coverage. What a team needs when someone asks a question nobody has time to answer properly.
Fixed price per brief.
Drafting support on policies and procedures
First drafts and rewrites of AML policies, CDD and EDD procedures, risk assessments and SAR narrative standards, for small firms and startups who need the document written before it is reviewed.
Drafting only. See below.
What I am not
I am not an MLRO and I do not sign anything off. I do not give legal or regulatory advice, I do not act as your nominated officer, and I do not review or submit suspicious activity reports on your behalf. Drafting is drafting: whatever I write, someone accountable at your end still has to read it and own it.
Saying that up front saves us both a conversation. It is also the same argument this site keeps making about AI in compliance, and it would be odd to make it and then not apply it to myself.
How it works
- Tell me what you need and roughly when. A paragraph is enough.
- I will tell you whether it is something I can do well, and what it costs. If it is not, I will say so.
- Rates on request, and they depend on the piece. Fixed price wherever the scope allows it.
- Remote. Based in Brighton, UK.
Email is the fastest way to reach me.
